Kari Julin will start as head chef at Billnäs Ironworks in January

Billnäs Ironworks strengthens its restaurant operations: Kari Julin will start as the new head chef at Billnäs Ironworks in January. Julin is known as the captain of Finland’s victorious national chef team; Finland won gold at the 2024 Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart.

In addition to meeting and party guests, the Billnäs Ironworks restaurant serves hotel guests and summer guests during the high season. The kitchen is based on locality and classic recipes, as well as seasonal local ingredients.

“Billnäs combines two things for me: a strong location and a strong story. I am really excited to be able to build a food product that works equally well for meeting groups, hotel guests and summer tourists – with high quality and consistency, but still relaxed,” Julin says.

The ironworks’ goal is to develop an entity that reflects both Billnäs’ long history and modern craftsmanship – from breakfast and lunch to evening and party menus and entities designed for groups.

“Kari’s background in competitive cooking brings us exceptional ambition and systematicity – but above all, the enthusiasm to build a functional, versatile and selling food offering for everyday use,” says Olli Muurainen, owner of Billnäs Ironworks.

“The most important thing for me is that guests remember the taste and atmosphere of Billnäs. You don’t have to look for tricks when the ingredients and the workmanship are good, you can feel it right away.” Kari Julin adds

Billnäs Ironworks is a historic ironworks environment, with roots dating back to the 17th century. The area has been significantly renovated every year.
